Fresh Wardrobe for Spring: 7 Pieces You Need in Your Closet
I was having a conversation with my friend the other day about how she wanted to get rid of (read: donate) her entire closet and start fresh – keeping only neutrals and expensive pieces. I did this a few weeks ago as I was moving into my new apartment, and it was a great way to start on a clean slate. I’m usually pretty good about donating pieces each year to avoid clutter in my closet, but I make sure to hold onto (or replace things with!) strong, neutral pieces that can be repeated over and over again. A few of my favorites for Spring are below.
1. A soft blazer.
Super comfortable but dressy enough for work. I wear mine constantly, and I’m definitely getting it in another color. This one was originally released in tan, navy, and black..and they just came out with gray and a few pastel colors for Spring. They’re also all 40% off right now!
3. A lace dress.
I have a few laces dresses in my closet at all times. They’re perfect for last minute parties, and you can also dress them down during the day with denim jackets (one of my favorite outfits for Spring and Summer). This one is a pretty pop of color (under $200), this one is perfect for daytime underneath that denim jacket (under $140), and I love this long-sleeve black one (under $130).
5. A neutral clutch.
A bag is the final touch on your outfit, and a clutch is the easiest way to dress something up (instead of grabbing a big tote). I’ve had my eye on this one for years, and I think I’m finally going to get it. Super affordable (under $90), and it can also be monogrammed! Great gift idea as well. (And..this clutch is on my wishlist! Splurge item).
7. A pair of espadrilles.
You can go preppy or edgy on this one. These black ones would be cute with jeans (under $80), these are fun if you’re looking for a very girly option ($80), and this brand makes a ton with words and pictures on them..so cute for vacation! Love the lemons, flamingos, and the “ciao bella” ones.
