Giving Tuesday: Four Charities to Donate to Today

I became involved in this charity last year through a friend, and I now sit on the New York Young Leadership Committee. While I don’t have any specific ties to this charity other than simply wanting to help out a wonderful cause, it does hit close to home for me. Save A Child’s Heart supports children that need life-saving heart surgery, and having six nieces and nephews myself, anything to do with helping children is always something I will be a part of. (Every donation made through this specific link will be matched up to $1,000).

This is quite an important charity to me, as it affects someone close to my heart and in my family. I didn’t know anything about MSA until it affected someone that I love, but I wish I had known about it sooner. Please read up on MSA if it’s new to you. (Every dollar donated will be matched up to $100,000).

If you have any connections to veterans or are looking to donate to one, this charity is for you. Every dollar raised is being donated to one young man named Brandon, a 22 year old who was tragically paralyzed while training to become a Navy Seal. For every $20 donated, a stocking with your name on it (or someone else’s name if you’d like, perhaps in memory of a veteran you knew), will be hung in Park Avenue Tavern in NYC. Happy to say that I made seven different $20 donations so that I could hang my name on a stocking alongside all of my nieces’ and nephews’ names. This one is brand new to me, but I love learning about new charities, so I wanted to share it. Camp Power was created to help underprivileged NYC kids in different communities, its signature program being a weeklong camp at Tyler Hill, one of the country’s nicest camp facilities. I attended camp for a few years as a kid, and it’s one of my fondest memories, so I was very happy to donate to this one. (I also have a few friends that attended Tyler Hill, so I’m even more excited to spread the word about Camp Power).
