New Year’s Resolutions

Other than what you’re wearing, or who you’re smooching at midnight, I would imagine the other thing that’s on most people’s minds for the new year is picking a resolution. To be honest, I only remember picking a resolution (and actually sticking to it!) once. I was thinking about it today – specifically what I would choose for this year – and I wound up doing a tiny bit of research online about the most popular resolutions that people do pick each year.

According to multiple resources, the top resolutions are: Lose Weight, Volunteer to Help Others, Quit Smoking, Get a Better Education, Get a Better Job, Save Money, Get Fit, Eat Healthy Food, Manage Stress, Manage Debt, Take a Trip, Reduce/Reuse/Recycle, and Drink Less Alcohol.

While all of these resolutions are great, I think my favorite is “Volunteer to Help Others”. It’s the only one on the list that involves helping others, and not just yourself.
The resolution that I did in the past was attempting to travel more, and I took a ton of trips in that one year (2013). It’s also continued to be a regular part of my life every year, and I’ve continued to travel as much as I can. I highly recommend it! It’s a nice way to treat yourself, and it’s always great to just take a break from life and see some new places at the same time. Since 2013, I’ve been to: Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, Disney World, Washington DC, Boston, Virginia, Austin, The Bahamas, Montauk, Martha’s Vineyard, Spring Lake (my favorite place in NJ!), and Fiji. Not too bad! I haven’t been to Europe since 2007; I think that’s next on my list.
Anyone have a resolution or a place to visit that’s not on these lists? Curious to hear what people are looking to accomplish this year.
