DIY: Face Mask

Sep 29 2014
A face mask is one of the easiest ways to give yourself a spa-like treatment in the comfort of your own home. And where else would you want to do a face mask, anyway? Nobody wants to see someone with either green or black smeared all over their face – it’s not a cute look. (And thank you to two of my best friends who both love sending me pictures while they’re “masked”).
This DIY (“Do it Yourself” for anyone that didn’t catch on) face mask uses very simple food products – ones that you likely already have in your kitchen – and only takes a few minutes to prepare. Follow the easy steps below:
Ingredients:
1/2 avocado
1 tablespoon of organic honey
1 tablespoon of plain yogurt
Directions:
1. Mash the avocado in a small bowl until smooth. (Buy the dishes seen in the photo here).
2. Add the honey and yogurt to the avocado, and mix until smooth.
3. Spread a layer onto your skin (wash your face first!) and let sit for 10-15 minutes.
4. Remove with warm water.
..and ta da! You’re a super model.
Why (you might be asking) am I going to spread this crap on my face..instead of eating it? For one, avocados are rich in Omega-3 fatty acids..very moisturizing..and they contain a ton of Vitamin C. Secondly, the lactic acid in the yogurt acts as a natural exfoliant for your skin, and lastly, the honey boosts your skin’s hydration.
If you have any leftovers, as you likely will, stick it in your fridge (it’s food, after all) and use it for as many days as you can. (These Pyrex bowls are great for storage).
Happy Monday, everyone. (#sigh)
