5 Must-Haves When Packing for Ireland

Jul 21 2016
I’m off to Ireland (and London!) next week, and I can’t wait. I’ve traveled a ton in the last few years, but I haven’t been to Europe since 2007. I will be staying in Dublin and bouncing around the neighboring counties doing tourist-y things with a friend that grew up there. Super excited! It’s been quite a while, but I remember exactly what the weather is like, and it’s my plan to be super prepared this time. If you’re heading to Ireland anytime soon, use this list as a general guide to what you need for your wardrobe.
1. Denim..and lots of it.
The weather is usually on the chilly side, even in the summertime, and you’ll want jeans or jean shorts as a “base” for your outfit, especially if it rains. I’m bringing these jeans (my fave – on sale right now), these white jeans, and these denim shorts.
2. Rain essentials: boots, jacket, umbrella.
It rains in Ireland. A lot. I’m bringing these rain boots (on sale), and I’m looking into buying this jacket. The color is a bit much for me, but I think it might look great against all the green over there!
3. Sneakers.
Must-have for exploring and climbing a lot of hills. I want to make sure I have a good mix, so I’m bringing these black ones (under $100), these gray ones (under $80), and these “nice” navy blue ones (under $70).
4. Extra sweaters and coats.
Layering is key in Ireland. I’m bringing this navy blue coat and this trench (fave coat in my closet). I may also throw in this vest.
5. A backpack or cross-body.
This is my biggest advice packing-wise for visiting another country. You want your hands free at all times for pictures or for hiking/walking around. I’m looking into buying this backpack (perfect mix between chic and sporty).
If you’ve been to Dublin recently and have any suggestions for things to see, please comment and let me know!
